This year, in order to shorten the amount of time the short program/short dance round takes, the European Championships have added a qualifying round. The Ice Dance competition has 28 entrants with the top 12 entrants (based on scores from previous ISU events this season) going directly to the short dance. The following 15 teams competed their free dance in a qualifying round this morning and the top 8 teams listed below will advance to the short dance. They will be joined by top contenders Nathalie Pechalat & Fabian Bourzat, Federica Faiella & Massimo Scali, John & Sinead Kerr, and Ekaterina Bobrova & Dmitri Soloviev among others.
